The statistic comes from the International Monetary Fund's 9th Financial Access Survey (FAS) results, published in September 28th, 2018.

According to the IMF's FAS indicator dataset, beautifully azulejo-tiled Portugal, is one of the countries with the highest number of ATMs in relation to its population at 165.69 ATMs per 100,000 people (IMF, 2018).
